Anxiety counselling in Solihull
When worry keeps taking your attention, it can feel hard to find space for anything else. Counselling offers time to talk about your experience and explore what support could look like for you.
Starting with your experience
You might find yourself going over conversations, anticipating what could go wrong or feeling tense even when you cannot identify one clear reason. You may be coping on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed. These are experiences you can bring to counselling; you do not need to diagnose yourself or explain them perfectly. We can begin with the situations that feel difficult and the effect on your day-to-day life. If you have concerns about physical symptoms or your health, speak to a GP as well.
How we can work together
I’m Gemma, an integrative counsellor. We can explore your worries, the pressures you face and patterns that seem to keep returning. Our conversations may include relationships, expectations or how you respond when something feels uncertain. Where useful, we can discuss practical coping approaches alongside talking. I do not assume that one technique suits everybody. We agree the focus together and review how the work feels for you. Counselling is an opportunity for understanding and support, with no guarantee of a particular result or timetable.
What happens in a first conversation?
You can arrange a free 15-minute introductory call to ask questions and say a little about what brings you here. You do not need to share your whole history. If we decide to arrange sessions, the first appointment can explore what you hope for and what you would like me to understand. We also discuss confidentiality and its limits, fees and practical arrangements. You are welcome to ask how the approach works before deciding whether you want to continue.
Practical arrangements
Individual sessions last 50 minutes and start at £60, with concessions available. I offer counselling in my Solihull practice room, with free on-site parking, and online across the UK. I welcome enquiries from Shirley, Knowle, Dorridge, Olton and south Birmingham. For online work, we agree arrangements beforehand and you will need a private place to talk. Frequency and the length of our work are discussed together. Please ask about availability, access needs and cancellation arrangements before booking.
Choosing the support you need
You may want counselling alongside support you already receive, or you may be exploring help for the first time. It is useful to mention existing support when we discuss suitability. This page describes a counselling service, not a diagnosis or an urgent treatment route. For general information about anxiety and options for help, see the NHS resource linked below. If your needs require a different service, the introductory conversation can help clarify the next step. A website enquiry does not book a session or provide emergency support.
Questions about sessions
Do I need a diagnosis before enquiring?
No. You can ask about counselling based on what you are experiencing and what you would like support with.
What if I feel anxious about the first call?
You can keep the introduction brief and ask practical questions. There is no expectation to tell your whole story in 15 minutes.
Can I have online sessions?
Yes. Online counselling is available across the UK, with suitability and arrangements discussed before we begin.
Where can I read more about anxiety?
The NHS provides general information about anxiety and routes to support. Counselling with Gemma is a separate private service.
